Darkroom Club

Darkroom Club

Join the club! The CCP has planned a darkroom social club for keen b&w film photographers to make interesting art together. This is totally separate from CCP course work, so is open to CCP students, former students, and non-CCP friends. Darkroom experience is essential.

Time slot:
Join the Club!

With the help of architectural photographer (and super enthusiastic Darkroom Guy) Cameron Longshaw, we have started a darkroom club.

The club is a time and place to practice and talk about darkroom techniques and projects of your own and of others. This will be a social group without any formal teaching, ideal for graduates and non-students, and of course any passionate darkroom practitioner.

Anybody with an interest in anything film will be welcome to come. It's open to experimental darkroom projects, straight technical works, and everything in between.

CCP will provide the darkroom and chemistry, and participants will provide their own film and paper. CCP has a stock of basic Ilford paper and film for sale.

Hope you can join us and create some interesting pieces.

Please note that darkroom experience is essential. Members must be able to use the equipment and chemistry safely and knowledgeably. This will be a social club, run on a volunteer basis, with no formal teaching.

This will not be the time or place for tuition on basic darkroom training. There is a workshop and a course for that, and the CCP warmly welcomes any interested people to join us for those learning opportunities.

The details

Time is 5.30 - 9.30 Wednesday nights during term.

Classes finish at 10pm so please allow plenty of time to dry your prints and pack up the darkroom.

Frequency is fortnightly (even weeks) during Terms 3 & 4

This means there will be eight meet-ups (for starters) on 31 July, 14 & 28 August, and 11 September, followed by 23 October, 6 & 20 November, and 4 November.

Once the group has gotten together these dates may be flexible depending on everyone's availability.

We will aim to have a bonus session during term break if possible. Once everyone has signed up we will also try to organise a mid-July meeting to get the ball rolling.

Cost is $149 ($99 for current CCP students) for the eight meet-ups

We do so love our students, there is of course a discount for CCP people. Use code 9XMLTRL at the Checkout for $50 off.
