Posing and Photographing Newborns
Lecturer: Kylie South
Join AIPP Accredited photographer Kylie South for her newborn photography workshop at the CCP. This class is aimed at photographers wanting to get into newborn photography and it covers a wide range of subjects. Learn what a shoot is actually like, how to deliver confidence to the client, posing and handling with safety in mind, to prop or not to prop, and light quality so you can understand highlights and shadows as seen through your histogram. You will be engaged as Kylie shares anecdotes about successes and pitfalls to avoid while understanding how to work with siblings and family photos especially with toddlers in mind.
The class will work through each stage of the newborn photography shoot, including set-up, soothing, posing transitions, prop selection, styling and post-processing. You will receive Kylie’s perfectionist techniques including camera settings, white balance adjustments, studio lighting choices and shooting angles. Part of the day will be dedicated to discussing the importance of workflow through your session while keeping the baby happy. You will consider necessities like beanbag and prop workflow, wrapping, settings and the importance of setting and understanding skin tones as illustrated in your histogram.
Class sizes are limited as Kylie believes in providing an intimate learning experience to ensure one-on-one time with each attendee. These classes are conducted in the CCP large daylight studio ensuring a lot of hands on work throughout the morning. Kylie specialises in outdoor photography, particularly of newborns and families so you will learn how to comfortably soothe, settle and pose newborns outdoors as well as inside, and importantly how to use available light to create beautiful newborn portraits.

This class assumes basic computing knowledge like copying files, email attachments, using general software, and editing. If in doubt please contact the CCP. Camera is welcome but optional
Required Materials:
