Photoshop for Beginners

This workshop is for those new to Photoshop, who wish to have a good understanding of the basics of this program without getting buried in unnecessary details and jargon.

If you've worked with Photoshop before but haven't practiced for a while, this class would also be a great refresher.

You will be introduced to – and get to use – the basic tools for cropping, adjusting the contrast and tone of your image.
Topics covered include:
• File types - in camera & computer
• Photoshop's working environment
• Straightening and cropping
• Levels and curves
• Cloning to repair your images
• Layers, selections and masking to better control your editing
• Montages - creating one image from other, or multiple, images
• Controlling colour

Prerequisites

You must have a basic understanding of computer technology – if unsure, please call the Centre. The Centre uses Apple Macs, but experienced PC users will be able to easily adjust. You will be working on images provided and your own creations, so you should bring two or three images that you believe need some simple work/adjustments.
This workshop is strictly limited to 8 students.

Materials

Bring your lunch, and a USB stick with images. Also have a notebook and
pen to make notes as the lessons unfold. Photocopied course notes and guides will be provided.
