SPECIAL EVENT: KENOPSIA
A photographic exhibition and fundraiser by Alicea Garcia.
Kenopsia: The eerie, forlorn feeling of a place that is usually bustling with people, now abandoned and quiet.
The Mill is pleased to be hosting Alicea Garcia for her exhibition of hand-processed film photographs.
Opening Night Friday 30th September 6pm-10pm, until October 2nd.
Depicting old Nepali architecture in the days leading up to the 2015 earthquake, Garcia sets a scene of aged cultural identity. Sadly, many of the buildings featured do not stand today. The dark and brooding imagery, by coincidence, reflects the artist's experience in Kathmadu where the narrow streets and tall buildings were immediately abandoned after the tragic events of April 2015.
Revenue from all sales and donations made during the exhibition will contribute directly to an initiative by Parma Launay, funding a development project on the ground in Nepal this October and November. The project will build an earthbag school in the region of Sindulpachock in conjunction with First Steps Himalaya, a NFP based in Nepal, responsible for several rebuild projects.
Please join The Mill on the opening night to view the latest photography series by Alicea Garcia, and contribute to a worthy cause.
