Dani Chidlow uses her love of photography and dogs to raise money for Safe Pets, Safe Families.

It's National teachers day in Brunei and National Dogs in Politics Day in the USA.

So what has teaching and dog's got in common? Dani Chidlow of course! Dani Chidlow is one of our newest lecturers at the CCP, teaching Darkroom, Camera one and Digital 1. Recently Dani undertook a fabulous project raising funds for Safe Pets, Safe Families where she photographed a bunch of the cutest dogs ever! We are so proud of her achievements. Dani kindly wrote about her work below:

It was April, my birthday was fast approaching, and I'd been racking my brain about the best way to celebrate turning 30. The pressure was on because it seemed like “the big three-oh” should be a monumental milestone. I wasn’t really in the mood for hoopla and fuss (perhaps the first sign of ageing?) but instead felt the ideal way to celebrate would be to redirect any hoopla and fuss towards the charity organisation, Safe Pets Safe Families.⁣

Safe Pets Safe Families do truly wonderful and urgent work, providing programs and services to both people and their pets in the SA community who are facing disadvantage or crisis situations, predominantly in relation to domestic violence.⁣

The spirit of Hound in Hand Photography is to celebrate the special relationships people have with the pets, and Safe Pets Safe Families live this philosophy every single day by keeping families together, often in the most trying and heartbreaking circumstances.⁣

To raise funds for this indispensable organisation, with the help of the Centre for Creative Photography, I held a day of Mini Sessions at their studios in Marleston.

100% of profits were donated, and I am so proud of what we managed to achieve. The sessions swiftly sold out and we had a total of 8 people with their respective 15 dogs participate (and may it be noted, not one accident to report! 💩)
We raised a mind-boggling total of $1160, and I lost count of the bonus cuddles I scored.

Below are a selection of our portraits, and if you’d like to see more puppers (and there’s plenty more where this came from), follow along on Instagram @houndinhand.

I have so much gratitude for all who took part and made this possible. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Best. Birthday. Ever.
