Is it National Composition Day? 9/9/19

It's September 9th and what does that mean? We don't know. But the number 9 got us thinking about the most common thing we hear about in photographic composition, the rule of thirds. Divide your image into 9 boxes and place your subject where the corners intersect or along the lines and theoretically, you might get a more balanced image. MIGHT being the operative word.

Thinking of the rule of thirds made us think about other ways to compose an image, which reminded us of a lecture we watched a few years ago published on the B&H YouTube page. We thought we might share it with you. It's a long one, so grab a bevvy and settle in for an hour of "AH HUH!" moments as Adam Marelli talks about composition in classical art and how it relates to photographers.
